Community of Relatives–Occupation among Migrants: the Life in Shanghai of a Market Family from Wenzhou

ABSTRACT: Cultural fracture is an important concept in the study of migration in recent years. This concept tries to explain the special living status of migrants in the light of cultural perspective, and a community of relatives-occupation of migrants is a concrete manifestation of cultural fracture and proactive choice in the face of risks of migration. This paper investigated a family of micro-supermarket business in Shanghai as a sample. This family came from Yongjia of Wenzhou, an industrial region, and were merged into another city in a short period of time. Taking their life history in this metropolis as a stage, this research showed the organization, daily life, network between family members, and self-sufficiency and interdependence within this network. The uniqueness of the communities of relatives-occupation was then exhibited, compared with the traditional village family communities. Considering the special status of the community in the city culture, this paper re-evaluated the force of cultural fracture and criticized the previous studies on the migration groups.

迁移群体中的亲缘-业缘共同体:一个温州超市业家族的上海生活史

摘要：近年来，文化断裂是人群迁移研究中的重要概念。这一概念试图从文化的角度对于城市外来人员形成的特殊生活方式加以解释，而外来人员中存在的亲缘-业缘共同体正是文化断裂的具体表现，是外来人员应对迁移风险的主动选择。本文选择在上海的一个来自温州永嘉的超市业家族作为研究个案，从这一家族共同体的在沪生活史入手，阐述家族内部的组织特征、日常生活方式与人际网络中的封闭性与互助关系，了解这一由来自工业化地区的新移民在短时段内重新组成的家族同业共同体与传统乡村家族相比所具有的特殊性。由其在城市文化中的特殊地位出发，本文将重新思考文化断裂的内在意涵，反思传统的迁移群体研究。
