 Comparing the upper Paleolithic cultures in South China

ABSTRACT: Sites of upper Paleolithic period have been discovered in Sichuan, Hubei, Guangxi, and Yunnan Provinces of China. However, because of the discontinuity and sporadicalness of the findings, and the imprecision of dating, the Paleolithic cultures in South China are lack of integrated studies. Here, I compared several Paleolithic cultures of the southern area in China. The cultures of that period displayed a high diversity in techniques while were all developing in the similar trend, serving as a link between the early Paleolithic age and the Bone age.

华南旧石器时代晚期文化初步比较

摘要：我国南方旧石器文化的研究有较悠久的历史。在四川、湖北、广西、云南都曾发现旧石器时代的遗址。然而由于断代困难、资料较少的原因，对于旧石器时代的研究往往局限于某个特定遗址。本文就中国南方地区的旧石器时代晚期文化进行比较，认为不同地区在石器制作上采用的技术趋异，呈多样化，然而在石器制作的发展倾向上趋同。本文认为这个时期的南方旧石器时代文化，上承旧石器时代早期的制造方法和类型，下启骨角器文化的发展，对于之后的文明发展的研究工作有启示意义。
