Genetic evidences are against a common origin of the Altaic populations

Abstract:
Although the ‘Altaic’ linguistic family are generally accepted to be unitary, most linguists beleive that the resemblances within the family resulted from the contacts and influences among the languages, rather than from the legacy of a common ancestry. Genetic study may also help in examining the unity of the Altaic. Currently, Y chromosome diversities of most northern Eurasian populations have been evaluated, which showed that the major paternal lineages of the Altaic, C3-M217, N-M213, R1a1a-M17, and Q-M242, have different origin and history of diffusion. Moreover, all the lineages except for C3 have higher frequency in certain non-Altaic populations than in any Altaic populations. Impressive difference on maternal mtDNA haplogroups were also observed among the three subfamilies of the Altaic. Given that significant heterogeneity was observed in both paternal and maternal lineages, we argued that genetic evidences do not support a common origin of the Altaic populations, which is consistent with the linguistic evidences.

遗传学证据不支持阿尔泰语人群的共同起源

摘要:阿尔泰语系虽然被认可为一个可以成立的语系,但目前多数语言学家倾向于认为所有的阿尔泰语相似性是由接触和借贷关系导致的,而不是同源关系的表现。我们总结了目前关于欧亚大陆北部的几乎所有人群的父系遗传的Y-SNP遗传结构。结果显示阿尔泰语人群的主要父系类型: C3-M217、N-M213、R1a1a-M17以及Q-M242都有完全不同的独立起源。并且,除了C3外,这些父系类型在某些非阿尔泰语的人群中比例比在任何阿尔泰语人群中都要高。母系方面的数据也表明有阿尔泰语三个语族的人群有较大的差异。这表明,绝大多数阿尔泰语人群在遗传上没有共同的起源, 这一结果支持语言学的观点。
