 Conflict between 'Spirit' and 'healer' during the treatment for a Hmong girl patient in the United States

ABSTRACT: ‘The spirit catches you and you fall down’ is a narrative paradigm about the disease. Unlike other medical anthropologists’ ways of descriptions and languages, in the book ‘The spirit catches you and you fall down’, Anne Fadiman mainly focused on doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of the conflict between the two. The author explained the conflict that in fact exists between doctors and patients, which cannot be ignored in our daily life, through a vivid case of a Hmong family. This review emphasized the conflicts and confusions between doctor and patient, illness and body, self and family discovered by the book.

以美国苗族女孩病患为例叙述“灵”与“医”的争夺

摘要：《被恶魔抓住就会病倒》是疾病叙述的一种范式。有别于其他医学人类学者的叙述方式和语言，文章作者安妮•法迪曼在《被恶魔抓住就会病倒》中集中叙述医患关系，侧重从医患之间的冲突来解释。作者通过苗族的一个家庭案例生动的讲述了医患之间所存在的事实上的冲突,而这又是我们在日常生活中无法忽视的。笔者欲通过本书的概括和解释，表达医患、病痛和身体、自我以及家庭中所存在的冲突和困惑。
